Training in CK

During our recent trip to CK, we endured many hours of training in community development and then many hours of bumpy roads to reach our villages. Over and over, village after village, I hear the people saying the same thing "I raise my eyes toward the mountains, where will my help come from?" Sound familiar? Check out Psalm 121. The living conditions of the people can be overwhelming, but to know exactly where their help will come from is exciting!! Their Maker wants to help them! In the 3 villages we surveyed, there was not even one believer among them! The pictures we have don't have many people in them because most folks were out working in the fields. But amazing enough we were able to meet with all of the village head men. This was a miracle because they are usually out working as well and to arrive, like we did, without any forewarning usually means a return trip. Thick rain clouds settled in on the mountains shortly after 1 and we knew if we didn't start heading back down the mountain soon, we were going to be spending the night. With tires wrapped in chains, we arrived safely at the bottom, joined up with the rest of the teams, and ate lunch.
The next day Blake and I looked around for a house and here it is. . .DSC01947

There's a little bit of work that has to go into it. . .like replacing wood that termites have destroyed, putting. . .well. . .everything in the kitchen, adding electrical outlets, screens on the windows, and some paint. It will look very different the next time you see it : )

Very large covered area in the back and a nice yard too once it gets cleaned up. We have banana trees, coconut trees, and papaya trees!
